| The
Goddess Camp is part of our Goddess Mysteries Embodying the Divine Feminine
series. Our intention is: 1. Create a supportive, affirming opportunity for women to dance and play together; 2. "Goddess Dancing" focus on sacred feminine shapes, energy and the Goddess within to reinforce womens’ connections to their bodies as sacred altars of the Eternal Feminine; 3. Body-Affirming -- to encourage women to feel more comfortable with their unique expression of the Goddess and to feel free to openly experience their bodies in a sensual belly dance venue that is safe and supportive and NOT for performance; 4. Have fun, play and don't take the Goddess too seriously:-) |

| What
to bring / wear : If you are used to wearing sweatpants and tee
shirts for comfort, imagine the possibility that you are the Goddess and
that every time you get dressed you are adorning the altar of the Goddess!
You are a sacred, beautiful vessel of the Divine Feminine; you can honor
this affirmation by draping and swathing and accenting and covering your
body in luxurious, delicious materials and adornments. Instead of worrying
about getting your “good clothes” dirty, try going to thrift
stores and spending a few dollars on some fun and fanciful Goddess wear.
Be authentic in your choices. If you don’t like gauzy cottons but
prefer bright, rich fabrics, go for those. However, we challenge you to
stretch your self-imposed limitations and just play with the possibility
that wispy or frilly or bold or shimmery or wild or fun or daring or ostentatious
or sexy or outrageous... may be worth trying on. For practicality: Bring
water shoes since the brook is very rocky and there may be broken glass
on the bottom. Bring swimwear, sarongs, towels, sunscreen... It is not
very buggy there but bring bug repellent (natural if possible) just in
case.. A comfortable beach chair might come in handy. Also, for a sacred ceremony, please bring some kind of vessel that can hold water. This vessel should either be special or beautiful or associated with something you’d like to remember or share. (a bowl would be perfect, but any vessel that can hold water, preferably with a wide mouth so that you can put things in it, would work fine). Also, bring some water to include in a ritual. It can be from a body of water near your home or a special place... it can be symbolic of something meaningful or significant... or just ordinary water from your home faucet, or store bought spring water, if you like. Meals: There will be lunch breaks on Saturday and Sunday and a potluck dinner on Saturday evening. All food must be provided by you, but the kitchen can be utilized for heating the potluck dinner on Saturday night. You should bring a cooler with ice or ice packs to keep your food fresh in the hot weather. We are very close to the Brattleboro Food Co-op and other food places where you can purchase food at the beginning of the day before our programming. We will not have enough time for people to leave the site during the actual camp day (10:30am - 9pm) so plan to either bring food or get it early in the morning before you arrive. We are providing a large converted barn studio on the beautiful Whetstone Brook. It is in Brattleboro in a convenient location AND it feels remote and private due to the secluded stoney beach in a tree covered ravine. We can offer tenting in the yard for $15 a night (Fri. & Sat. nights). If you are tenting, you would need to bring your own coolers, but you could get water from the house and use the facilities there. There is only one shower in the house and so splashing around in the brook may be the only available “shower” (depending on how many people are tenting). If you want something less rustic, there are B&B’s and motels very close by. Tenting space is limited so check for availability. |
